I had never heard of Dexter until your latest Mr. Podcast when it was briefly mentioned. I just looked it up, and I learn it's on Showtime. I'm not made of money you know.

Justin,

My sister introduced me to Arrested Development last Christmas. Well I asked her to bring her DVDs to Thanksgiving this year and I watched the first two seasons again (she seems to have misplaced the 3rd). Best comedy ever.

Yes, stephen, Arrested IS AMAZING. There is a lame subplot in season 3, but power thru b/c it will blow over and the season picks up steam again. And Justin, what fabulous dame introduced you to Arrested??

Also, stephen, download Dexter, because if you have the good taste that usually accompanies Mr. Podcast listeners then you will no be sorry.

I wouldn't count on this being our last Dexter podcast. So if you're at all interested in the show, and want to actually know what we're talking about, start watching it!

Honestly, the best way to catch up is to download the episodes. Yes, piracy is wrong, but since we're in the middle of a writers' strike, and the people who are most hurt by downloading tv shows are the studios, it's almost like you're helping the cause.

Sure you could buy or rent season 1 (do it if you can afford it!) but what about season 2? Unless you have Shotime and they offer some sort of on-demand, you'd be out of luck.

Bittorrent is the way to go. Here's a quick guide for the uninformed. Also check wikipedia if you're confused.

Also, here's a site that has free streaming tv shows. Dexter is there, but sites like this are hit and miss: sometimes the links go down.

Enjoy!

I just watched the first episode of Dexter. Es muy bien.

Also I learned something today. The word is "segue" not "segway". This is perhaps the worst spelled word ever.

Anyue, good show. I'll download some more or just buy the DVDs.

Stephen,

Glad you liked Dexter. I can honestly say that however good you think it is from watching the pilot, it gets no less than 10 times better. Seriously.

As far as segue, yes, its pronunciation belies its spelling. But that's what happens when you port a word from another language. And from French no less.

I have a friend who was sort of in your situation. But in his case, he knew how to spell it, but pronounced it "seeg." And segued became "seeged." I'm not even sure if my spelling gets across how he was saying it. It was strange--but not as strange as Dexter.

Now that's a segue!!

Inywhey...

I actually pulled off a pretty good segue a while back. I let my friend borrow my Lost season 1 DVDs, but at the time he was talking about some show on premium cable ("Rome", maybe?) And he said "it's a great show". I said "Speaking of great shows, have you watched those Lost DVDs?". Of course he's the most liberal* person I know, so he talks about doing it and starting to do it, but I know he will never watch them. "It is now in my DVD player...". As of last Wednesday, he is almost done with part one of the pilot. He said he is really busy at work and everything, but he's always raving about having a DVR and how he can watch what he wants when he wants. I guess he doesn't want to watch Lost. I'm pretty sure he watches Dancing With the Stars.

*I am not affiliated with any political party: I vote for the people not the Kids Klubs they happen to represent. My stepmother is a straight party voter: She looks for the "R-CA" after someones name and punches that chad. The aforementioned friend is a little more informed, but I have no doubt he looks for the "D-CA". Is it too late to run for president in 2008? Or do you still have to be 35? I think I am a good candidate. Much better than my chief competitor Ronald McDonald.

You know who else is better than Ronald McDonald? Dexter.

(Did that work?)

lol, i once knew someone who was taking one of those tours of a zoo on one of those segways (personal transporter, as their site describes them)and text messaged me: "We're going on a segue tour!" I responded "wtf?!" because I knew what that spelling meant, and didn't quite get how you would tour a zoo that way. well, i thought it was funny anyway.

I'm up to episode ten of Dexter. I really like it. I think my least favorite character is Deborah. She's like some combination of Shannon, Claire and Ana-Lucia. Whine whine whine. And still Dexter reminds me of Boone. //Spoiler// I knew that the doctor guy was the killer soon after they introduced him. He's just creepy.//

Thanks a lot you guys. Had to order Showtime. Fortunately, all of the current season are On Demand, and I've ordered the first season from Netflix.

That's all I needed. Another show to obsess about.

Love you guys!

Wow Mek,

We had no idea that we could rave so much about Dexter that someone would actually order Showtime! I'm sure that you're like most of our fans, incredibly rich--we wouldn't want the added expense to detract from paying the bills.

Hope you like Dexter, 'cause you're in it now!

I got it on special, my evil plan is to keep Showtime through the rest of the Season for Dexter (is that like 2 episodes?) then cancel the subscription.

Tell me, is that the creepiest preparation of breakfast you've ever seen?

I'd be sure to follow the code of claude when it comes to piracy ;)

S2 really drags in the middle with the stuff with Lila but ends on a strong note.

i enjoyed your Dextercast & was looking forward to more. =( it's all good though.

I've been enjoying Dexter, but it's kind of a guilty pleasure. I think the dialogue is cringe-worthy awful. Lots of 'tell don't show'. Also lots of movie-of-the-week psychology invading the motivations. Still, i like the premise and it keeps me guessing.

I finally was able to watch 2x09, and then listen to this podcast. Great episode, I can see why you made a podcast about it. Well I had something to say and correct something you said, but I forgot.

Alright... just watched the season finale of Dexter.. seriously cool. Can we expect a podcast?
:-) The echo of the opening credits was really cool.

Did anyone see the Season 4 promo? Crazy!!

I concur. A podcast would be nice about the awesome finale.

I think in season three Dexter is going to have to change his modus operandi on account of the police for the most part now knowing his. It was never mentioned on the show, but surely they noticed the slice on every victim's cheek. And the plastic sheet impressions, cut up neatly into garbage bags, etc. If a fresh body were to turn up with these telltale signs, perhaps the Bay Harbor Butcher case would be re-opened, and a closer look at the department would commence.

Dexter killed Lila in a very different way than his protocol, for obvious reasons. He appeared to just stab her in the heart and put her in a body bag. I assumed he would dump her in some large body of water or something.

Also maybe the older woman who works in the filing office will come into play. I would think she would know who Jimenez is, and he was a victim of the BHB...
