About Hoyt's Mom's comment. I think she was talking about marriage in general. This is the sceen when she was talking to Hoyt about his dad and I think she was just projecting her situation onto MaryAnne. Just the basic idea that no woman in her right mind would go through with it ( marriage) if she knew the truth.
